Doing things a little different here. I have WIPs but they are after story time. I am giving a content warning due to recounting a story about the death of my cat. Pet death is a heavy thing and I don’t want to trigger anyone. It is difficult for me now to look at any pets cat or otherwise. Still trying to cope with things and I thought it would help to talk about my Misty in the blog today. I hope you will read to hear about how awesome she was.

I apologize for the time away from biweekly blogging. The truth is simple. I’m not stitching very much and had nothing to show. I’m still debating how frequently to update things. Is it okay if I add only 200-300 stitches? What if I only work on one project? A debate that will go on in my mind. It might be best for people to subscribe to get notificatins when there is an update. I can no longer promise a length of time inbetween sharing.

Remembering Misty

CW: Pet Death (click to open)

I posted about Misty’s passing in the Catkin and Lillie Patreon Community. There were kind words said. Someone mentioned that I should focus on the happy moments with Misty and not her death. I thought writing out some of those stories would help. I will share a photo of Misty and something about her.

My favorite memory of Misty is a simple pleasure. One day I was taking a nap. When I woke up, we were laying cheek to cheek. She was sleeping and super relaxed. I didn’t dare move.

My sleep paralysis demon.

Misty had a cute routine. When she wanted under the covers she would paw at my comforter. This meant that she wanted to sit on my chest underneath the blankets. I wonder if she was cold? Or just wanted to cuddle.

A sweet thing

Misty’s story is bitter sweet. I wasn’t her first owner. She originally belonged to someone who passed. Her new owner left her behind when she moved to Portland. She was taken to the humane socitey shelter. A friend found out about this and asked for me to adopt Misty.

When I got to the shelter she ran away from me. But then, she came back around and sat on my thigh. I couldn’t adopt her right away. I would come to the shelter and call for her. She would come running every time. Eventually I took her home keeping my promise to her.

I promised her that she had found her forever home. That she would not be passed on to another person. Unfortunately, we didn’t have more time together.

That is all for now

Gothic bat

Most of my time spent stitching was on Gothic Bat. It is a simple geometric and monochrome design. Which is well suited to my low energy days. It is nice to not have to put a ton of thought into how to go about stitching. I’ve worked on it pretty monogamously.

Bone garden

I talked about moving into the main trailer with my Mother. There is much more light there. That lead me to taking this project out again. The fabric is beautiful and suits the mood of this piece. The fabric is difficult to work with because it is so dark. But, very much worth it. I want to see if I can get it finished before the end of the year. It is only about 3,000 stitches. The hardest part is doin the fiddly bits that are left. Lots of color changes.

Plans

I don’t have any plans right now. There isn’t any single project calling my name. So, the next update will be a surprise. I hope you are okay with that.
