Cross Stitch Bonanza #14 : Dem Bones
Lately, I’ve had a good mood. Feeling positive and optimistic. Although, thoughts of what is happening in my country and the world is on my mind. But, I’m keeping the doom thoughts away and I’m focused on the things that I can do to make the world better. I’m enjoying hanging out with my mom and working on my cross stitch projects. We are watching Hell’s Kitchen together. We recently finished season 23 and have moved on to the current season. We have quiet days around here and a routine that keeps me happy.
In Febuary, I went to my first Fiber Arts meetup at a local craft store in my town. There were only about six people. Who were all knitting. I’m socially awkward so I’m never sure how to talk in groups. I don’t usually start conversations for that reason. Luckily, these women were inclusive and asked me questions. They were mostly impressed with my 40-count little birb. They asked me a lot of questions about it. One woman asked me if I use a sharp needle to pierce the fabric. I explained that you use the holes like normal and a very tiny needle threaded with one thread. It was nice to do a little education.
There is another meetup in March that I plan on going to. I want to show the group my finish. And a woman there said she would bring me a beginner’s embroidery kit. I’m looking forward to it.
Finishes
I surprised myself and completed Blueberry Harvest in one month. Jed X Stitch patterns are a pleasure to work on. The colors are so vibrant. 40-count is now my favorite fabric. It is so much easier to use variageted thread with one strand. I do subscribe to a fabric of the month club and I’m going to switch counts. That way I can build a nice stash to work from. Anway, this is my finish.

WIPs
I went back to Bone Garden by Flossy Fox Shop. This is a pattern that I had put away because the fabric is so dark. And I was going to replace it with a 14-count Aida. But I lost the Aida. I decided to try again and brought it to my meetup. The thinking was they may have better light and it would be easier to see. Turns out, I was right. The light was the issue. So, I bought a little neck light. This is working out very well and I’ve made a lot of progress. I’ve completed a third of about 3,300 stitches. I’m going to finish the left side of the top skeleton and then move on to a project for my friend.

Haul
I don’t have anything to show here but I did purchase the Elven Rabbits ↗ pattern from Jed X Stitch. I’m not sure if I will start it soon or not. I’ve bought all the materials that I need to stitch it though. It includes a few Gentle Art threads. It will be my firat time working with them. I’m also working on the called for fabric. I don’t typically do that but this was an instance were I could not decide what would look better. So, I took the easy route. Working it with all the called for. I am patiently waiting for all of it to arrive.
Plans
The plan is to finish my Japanese Quaker ↗ for my best friend. I’m not sure if she will like it. But, it is one of those gifts about sharing what you love with the people you love. I think people can understand that. I’ve made peace with the fact that she may not display it in her home. I am hoping it will remind her of me and her many vacations to Japan.
It is also Monocchrome March in the Catkin and Lillie Patreon community. My plan is to take out Gothic Bat ↗ for about one week of stitching. I’m not going to make it a focus but it needs some love. I don’t mind bringing it out for that.
